Why I'm not making resolutions for 2015...

Every year at this time we thrust ourselves into a New year, New life philosophy and with talks of a blank page and the gratification of an instant renewal, it's easy to get wrapped up in the hype.

I'm all for setting yourself goals, but a lot of the time the ones we make for New Year are made in a rash bid to make ourselves feel better.

2014 for me has been a year of discovering that my will power isn't so great, so I'm not going to set myself up with goals that I know I can't keep and so the only resolution I'll be making this year is to not make any resolutions at all.

2015 for me will be the year of going with the flow, making myself happy and seeing where life takes me and I couldn't be more excited.

Until Next Time

I wish you all a Happy New Year

Boxing Day Bath Heroes!

This year I have spent the majority of Boxing Day on my own. With the boy off at work and the family having plans of their own, I used today as a chance to relax after a manic Christmas rush.

Every year for Christmas I am treated to lots of bath goodies, so I thought this year I would do a little run down of what bits I got that I am using in my Boxing Day bath and beyond.

Meet my Boxing Day Bath heroes:

Lush - Snow Fairy Gel

Emma Hardie - Amazing face cleanser
Rodial - 5 Minute facial

Redken - Diamond oil shampoo and conditioner.

In the winter everyone knows the feeling of horribly dry skin, so I plan to take the edge off using my new skin smoothing treats!

Before I head out of the door for tonight's festivities I'll spritz my new gorgeous perfume from Agent Provocateur.

And there you have it, my favourite way to relax!

I hope you're all having a magical Christmas with the ones you love and that you enjoyed a little nosey into my Boxing Day!

Until Next Time

Dealing with Christmas Stress - Advertorial

We've all been there; Hair all over the place, scrambling with heavy bags, checking off our mental to do list, whilst battling with hoards of fellow shoppers.

You feel hot and bothered and fed up and as you tot up your to do list, often paired with long working hours you feel your blood start to boil. The idea you had a few months ago of inviting great aunt Ermentrude as well as the other twelve guests for a full Cheistmas dinner doesn't seem like such a great idea after all and now you're in a serious flap.

I often find myself stressed at this time of year and this year I'm tackling my first ever Christmas dinner, so I wanted to share some soothing tips on how to bring back some joy and laughter into your festivities!

Step 1: Plan, Plan, Plan.

Everyone has different ideas on how to plan ahead, whether you love to write a quick list, or you attack Christmas with the fire of an army major, a little bit of planning before the big day can go a long way.

Step 2: Take some time for yourself.

In the Christmas rush it's all too easy to forget yourself. Take some time to have a nice relaxing bath, grab a glass of something tasty and have a little treat.

Step 3: Remember what Christmas really means to you.

It's all too easy to make a bigger deal of Christmas than is actually necessary and forget what Christmas actually means. For me Christmas is all about family and if you're too stressed to enjoy the big day, you might miss those moments that make the day so special.

Step 4. Remember nobody is perfect!!

So you burnt the roasties and the turkeys a tad dry. Kick back and relax and just have some fun!!!

Step 5. Recharge your batteries.

I'm not talking about running out and topping up your double AAs here, I'm talking about working some extra Zzzzzzz's. Sometimes when you're stressed it makes it super difficult to head off to the land of nod which is why Time 4 Sleep have created their new relaxation zone full of hints and tips to get you through the festive season.

You can head over to Time 4 Sleep by clicking here! On this website there are even more handy tips on how to de-stress and get a restful nights sleep.

All this talk of sleep is making me feel rather tired!

Feeling crafty - Table Centrepiece

Christmas is almost upon us and I couldn't be more excited. Christmas time is my favourite and this year is my first year in my new home, with my own tree and my first ever Christmas dinner! Eek!!

The other day I woke up with an urge to get crafty, having recently been talking about table centrepiece I decided why not try making my own?

Scouring my crafty selection I realised I only had some PVA glue, some sellotape, some tinsel and some wrapping paper. Not the most exciting tools for the job.

Having sat staring at the selection for a while, I decided it would be lovely to create some kind of floral wreath from paper and the tinsel. Here's a quick photo guide on how to make this super easy centre piece to wow your christmas guests:

First take your wrapping paper and cut 4 squares of equal sizes. Fold the pieces of paper as shown in the picture above.

Cut a petal shape from the paper, a bit like when you used to cut snowflakes!

Start to attach the petals by using tape on the smaller groups to create a flower shape.

Overlay the petals on eachother until you have a beautiful flower shape.

Start to layer the flowers around the wreath and secure underneath with tape.

When all of this is complete your wreath should look something like this:

Once your wreath is on the table you can jazz it up by using fairy lights! Id also suggest using fake candles, as fire and paper don't often mix well, and over the fun of Christmas dinner you could head for disastor!

I love my centrepiece and I can't believe how easy it was to make!

Send me pictures if you decide to give it a go, I'd love to see what you create!

Perfect Christmas Nail Polish

When Essence recently sent me some goodies through the post I was very excited, having been sent a goody bag from one of their recent launch events and loving all of their products that I tried.

I love nail polish but I always struggle to find something that doesn't chip, I have literally tried every brand out there and if I haven't chipped it, I've pretty much smudged it as soon as I need to do anything. ( I should probably add here that I am also incredibly impatient)

Having decided that I am just not meant to have beautiful, painted nails, I gave up; Until this little beauty arrived in the post.

Enter Essences Colour & Go Polish! With an intense Gel like shine and the quickest drying time of any nail polish I have ever tried I couldn't have been happier with this little gem!

I received the colour 187 Juicy Love, which is the perfect pillar box red to match my intense love for red lips right now.

The best thing of all about this polish is the price, at a bargain £1.60 I think I'll be stocking up on a few colours for the festive season next time I pop into my local Wilkinsons. If you want to browse through all the gorgeous colours available and make your own wish list, head over to their website by clicking here.

Which shade have you got your eye on?

Winter Look Book

I'm going to jump right on into this post and lead you straight into my new winter look book! I'm so excited to show it to you all, as I am always massively nervous about venturing out into the outside world and standing looking a little bit goofy in front of the general public whilst someone shoots me with a camera.

I'm hoping as I shoot more of these look books I'll start to relax more as I really do enjoy putting the outfits together and playing around. A special shout out to my friend who stood with me for hours in the cold shooting all the looks for me and directing me where to go when I was a bit lost.

I'm really chuffed with the video and I hope you guys like it to, if you do please hop on over to youtube and give it a little thumbs up for me, so I can keep track of what you guys really love and give you guys what you want!

L'oreal Colour Riche - Pure Reds

Red lipstick has the power to make the meekest girl feel like a bombshell, it has the power to make you feel like the sexiest girl in the room and can give you the confidence you didn't even know you had.

I believe every woman has a second identity, away from their work uniform or their daily mummy clothes, we all have that item of makeup or clothing that makes us feel like a million dollars. For me this item is red lipstick. I'm a little bit addicted to it and as of recent times I have actually lost count of how many I now own.

I recently saw an advert for L'oreal Colour Riche Collection exclusive pure reds, I could not wait to get my hands on "Blakes pure red."

The lipstick is enriched with jojoba oil which leaves my lips feeling super soft. I've been searching for my new favourite red after my beloved No7 one was discontinued and I have now given my heart away to a new love.

Each week from now until Christmas I want to post about my "star products" This gains my first "star award" as a product that I would give a full 10 out of 10.

Here's a swatch so you can get an idea of how the colour looks on myself. It's a very bright, pillar box red, perfect for wowing at any party and with christmas on its way, I know what I'll be carrying in my clutch bag.

You can buy the L'oreal colour Riche exclusive reds from boots £6.99.

You can also find exclusive offers & discounts for boots at vouchercloud Here

The Nars Sheer Glow Dupe...

Guys, it's here; The one we've all been searching for, the Nars sheer glow dupe!

I adore sheer glow and I would wear it every day of my life if it were possible and in my budget, but sadly a foundation that costs £30+ is something I want to savour and can't bare to wear every day.

Recently I nipped to boots to hunt down a new daily foundation to take the place of my beloved sheer glow and stumbled upon the perfect daily replacement!

I used the foundation for a week and I couldn't believe how much I loved it, I even had compliments about how dewy and healthy my skin looked. Even better than that it's only £9.99.

What is it I hear you cry?

The lowdown:
L'oreal nude magique Eau de teint claims to be as light as water. You only need to apply a small amount as a little goes a long way! If you like a full coverage foundation then back away, because this isn't the foundation for you, but if you want a dewy, non greasy, barely there look then I'd totally recommend it!

I went for colour 100 which is porcelain and you can see in my swatches below its a pretty good colour match for Nars sheer glow in Mont Blanc.

I'm pretty pleased with my new find and as a little goes a long way, the pretty frosted bottle will be with me for a while, but at £10 a pop I won't begrudge my new treat.

What's your favourite foundation?

I love the pattern on this skirt and the detail of the cute waist bow makes it the perfect skirt for a night out.

Let's Go Lashes - Review

I'm not the greatest fan of strip lashes, so when I was offered the chance to try some Lets Go Lashes, I have to admit I was sceptical of their claims of an easy, no fuss application.

The low down -
"Let’s Go Lashes are super fast strip lashes, ideal for women who haven’t tried falsies before through to more experienced strip lash wearers. The easy, no-fuss application mean that there’s no need for any tinting or mascara to create an amazing look and feel.
With a huge range of thickness, lengths and colour, there is a style to suit every eye, hair and skin colour. The 40 designs make up four fabulous ranges – Flirt, Tease, Temptress and Heartbreaker –  so there’s is a style perfect for any occasion just in time for the party season."
The Verdict -
I'm a massive newbie when it comes to strip lashes, having preferred individual lashes in the past, I actually couldn't wait to have a go at a new brand and see just how easy they could be.

Application was really easy, all I had to do was apply the glue to the lashes, wait 30-60 seconds until the glue became tacky and then hold them steady, just above my lash line.
The name of the lashes that I was sent was No3 in Flirt and I have to say as soon as I applied the lashes, my eyes felt super flirty and fluttery!

The length and volume of the lashes was amazing and instantly showed off my eyes. I wore the lashes out and about all day and had no problem with them falling off or raising in the corners like I had experienced in the past.

When I removed the lashes, they came off easily and were in good enough condition to use all over again.

What more could you want from a pair of lashes?

Even better the lovely people at Nouveau lashes are giving you guys an absolute bargain so you can stock up on their fab lashes in time for the Christmas party season!

Taking a little break

Hey guys,

I thought I should write you a little post to let you know where I'm at right now and give you a little update!

I'm about to head off on my holidays to sunny Tenerife for some relaxing down time with one of my oldest friends. I couldn't be more excited and whilst I plan to document the trip in Vlogs and photos I'm taking a short break from blogging.

Sometimes blogging can take over your life, but at the end of the day when blogging is a hobby sometimes there are things that are more important.

I currently have a 10,000 word  assignment due in for November 1st, whilst already juggling what is recently a very busy full time job which I love, but something has got to give.

So from now until Nov 1st I won't be blogging or posting videos, except from any organised collabs or write ups, which you will see popping up on my Twitter timeline. (@whatshedidx)

I promise whilst I'm away I'll be dreaming up the best videos for Vlogmas and the best posts for the run up to christmas.

I hope you guys understand my break and will come back to me in due course :)

See you soon

5 mistakes I've made as a blogger

Mistakes, we all make them and we can all grow from them.
As a blogger and Youtuber you are in essence your own boss, so you have to make decisions of what's right and what's wrong.
The great thing about mistakes is that they're fixable and if they're not you can learn from them and move on.
I thought I'd compile a list of 5 mistakes I, myself have made whilst blogging and what I have learnt from them.

1. Being a copy.

In the early days it's all too easy to idolise your favourite blogger and want to be just like them, but remember, you are your own person and not a copy, so don't let your blog become one. Try to find inspiration from things you love and eventually you'll have a eureka moment: mine came when I came up with the idea of my 100 Looks in 100 days posts. I'd never read anything else like it and it kept me actively engaged with my readers everyday.

2. Comparing yourself to others.

Just don't even try. We all want to be at our best all of the time, but sometimes it's just not possible. When you read other blogs try not to think "how can I make myself better than them" think "what can I do to make my blog better than it was last year." As your blog grows you can only get better and more experienced, so comparing yourself to your blog last year will only show you how far you've come and how great you're actually doing.

3. Feeling Pressured.

Whether it be to write a post or to keep up with your vlog, don't feel pressured to write content just because you feel like you have to. Your readers will only know the post is forced, it will become a filler post and it won't have served any purpose in the end anyway. It's a lose lose situation.

4. Getting jealous.

We are all human and yes we all get jealous, but try not to let it feed you. Yes she may have got the latest product, but think about the last experience you got from your blog and remember you got that experience and they probably didn't. Also try to remember your reason for starting your blog, very few people will say it was for the amazing perks of freebies and experiences, I bet most will tell you it was for the love of writing and as a hobby to pass the time. Don't get me wrong, the perks of being a blogger are amazing and most bloggers I know are extremely grateful, but don't get hung up in the he got, she got mind set, as you'll only be missing out on all the great opportunities right in front of you.

5. Listening to too many rules.

(A bit like this post here! I know I'm a hypocrite!)

You started a blog so that YOU would have a voice right? So why do what someone else is telling you to do? If you want to write once a week, write once a week. If you want to take sponsored posts, take bloody sponsored posts! Do whatever you feel is right for your blog, after all it's your baby, you've spent the hours on it and deep down you'll always know what's right.

I hope you've enjoyed a bit more of a wordy post tonight, I know it's a bit heavy for a Friday night, but I feel like as bloggers it helps to share our mistakes and experiences, so we can all grow and make the best of what we've got!

Until Next Time

Popcherry - The grown up Lucky dip!

Recently I stumbled upon the brand POPCHERRY and I must say I have fallen in love. I've always had a bit of a thing for Australian fashion and I have the Australian beauties of instagram to thank for that.

Sadly I don't have endless beaches, but I can get my hands on their fashion.

I love a good suprise and so when I found out that they sold mystery wardrobe I couldn't wait.

For just $69.99 (Aud) which is around £40 in the UK Popcherry will select 5 items from their website and post them off to you. (Free off charge when you spend $50+) A bit like a lucky bag for grown ups. How exciting is that?!

When my parcel arrived I couldn't wait to tear it open and see what I had inside and I have to say I actually love every item sent!

Which beauty blogger couldn't fall in love with this tongue in cheek "it's not you, it's your eyebrows" slogan jumper. Perfect for lounging around the house or making a statement on the days you feel more brave.

I absolutely adore the print on this dress. It's not quite graffiti, not quite Galaxy print and the cross over wrap skirt made me fall in love and I can't wait to wear it on my next night out.

There is NO way I would have thought myself to order this skirt, but it fits like a dream and gives me the perkiest little bum ever! How could a girl not be happy with that.

I must admit this dress is a little on the shorter side and so it's not for the faint hearted, but I can definitely see me wearing it on a night out, or layering it up under a skirt.

I looked everywhere for a white playsuit for my holiday and couldn't find one I liked. When this one arrived I couldn't have been happier as it is the perfect, it's not fitted and feels floaty and girly which is right up my street and I love the crocheted lace look on the collar and bottom of the shorts.

All in all I was really suprised with how much I really liked all the items that arrived and I was amazed at the value of the items. I totted up the prices of the idividual items on the website and found I'd saved myself £20-30, not bad at all in my book!

If you like the sound of the mystery bundles you can get your hands on one at or if that isn't up your street then they still have lots of beautiful items up for grabs.

All the items featured in this post were purchased with my hard earned pennies! I hope you enjoyed it.

Until Next Time

My Holiday Makeup - Guest Post

The type of makeup up that I take with my on holiday is hugely dependant on where I'm going. A hot climate demands the best primer, foundation and setting powder on the planet! Whereas if I am just going across the water to London for the weekend, my makeup regime hardly changes. When I go on holiday, I tend to use a lot less makeup as I don't like my skin feeling heavy and greasy. Not only that, how am I supposed to get any sort of tan if my face is caked? Holiday time is the best time to let your skin breathe!

Now I'm no expert but I'm guessing the wax dummy look is kind of not in fashion. No one wants to look like they have escaped from Madame Tussauds! This is where the bareMinerals Prime Time primercomes in. If I am being totally honest I don't wear primer everyday simply because I don't feel like I need it. At the moment I only work part time so I have makeup on for about 5 hours each day, that isn't enough time for my skin to get mega oily! It's a different story on holidays though, the humidity literally makes makeup melt off my face! Primers create a barrier between the makeup and skin so it also help prevent clogged pores. The less chance of breakouts on holidays the better! I have only ever tried two primers in my life, this one and a Boots No7 one (which I didn't like) I love it when you find a product that you are 100% happy with and I will re-purchase this one over and over again. Whatever primer you use just make sure you take it with you on holidays, you'll need it!

Although difficult and time consuming to achieve, I am a fan of the 'flawless and airbrushed' look. The only way I can achieve this is by using a liquid foundation like Revlon Colorstay that completely smoothes out my skin and imperfections. I must admit, when I was younger this was a confidence thing for me. The older I get, the less I care what people think and my makeup regime has almost changed completely. Instead of wearing heavy liquid makeup all day everyday, I now just wear it on special occasions or on night's out! My new found love is the bareMinerals READY foundation. I especially love a foundation like for holidays as the powder prevents your skin from getting too oily and it lasts longer than liquid. Especially when it's teamed with a quality primer and matt powder. Not only that, when i am on holiday I have better and more important things to be doing other than applying my makeup! it takes minutes to apply this and I love the 'natural' look of it on my face.

It is without a doubt that I resemble a milk bottle and I just stand out like a big British sore thumb on holiday in amongst everyone else's tan skin! The bareMinerals Warmth is a 'one size fits all' bronzer so it suits ANY skin tone. (hurrah! so you definitely will not pick up 'the wrong colour') I have had some bad experiences with bronzers in that they were too orange and just looked false on my skin. Instead of covering up your face, Mineral Warmth enriches your skin tone and gives you a healthy summer glow! You would not believe the tiny amount that you need, the tub I have at the moment is bound to last me for ages! On holiday I will apply a small amount of this all over my face and on my collarbones to give my skin a bit more colour. Surely it's better to fake the bake rather than to errr.. bake, right? See an extended review of the warmth by clicking here.

Firstly, my camera has taken a veryyy good photo of this Laura Geller beauty, you can see the different tones in it perfectly. The Blush n' Brighten combo is perfect to take away on holiday as it is a blusher and a highlighter in one! I am not a fan of a really pink blush, I would much rather have an apricot shade as I think it is much more natural looking. I like this blush as it has a number of tones within it, so it isn't overpowering. I swipe this up my cheekbones, down the centre of my nose, on my forehead, my chin and on my collar bones. It gives me an instant holiday glow without looking too shimmery.

And there you have it! My 4 holiday essentials to perfect glowing skin. Do you alter your makeup routine when you go on holiday?

Home Haul - Getting Settled

About three months ago I moved into my new apartment with a real live grown up boy (EW!) and whilst we both loved what we had done to it so far we both agreed that the place needed some extra TLC to get it juuuuuust right.

Last Sunday we decided it was about time we got off our bums and did something about it and so here are the results of a little sunday shopping Haul.

The Bathroom:

I love my bathroom and I love nothing more than a nice long bath, but nothing annoys me more than when it's untidy with half empty bottles on every shelf. First of all I bought the super cute Lotions & Potions wooden box to store all of those annoying bottles for £3.99 from B&M stores. Now that my bath ledges were clear I could add some lovely decorations and I fell in love with this sign from Next home for £12, because sometimes when you're sitting in a big bowl full of bubbles with a glass of wine in hand, you just need someone or a sign to remind you it's ok to relax!

The Hallway:

Internet is the best. It really is, it connects us, it excites us, it joins us and it educates us, but sometimes the things that bring us the internet, involve a lot of pesky boxes and wires that we'd rather not have on show. Sadly our wifi box is in the hall and leaves a lot to be desired. In stepped this gorgeous table from TK Maxx for £79.99, its small, compact and best of all from above it hides all the horrible wires and electronic things, you don't want anyone to see.

Now being a woman I couldn't have my lovely table without a few decorations, I spend my day to day life making displays look pretty and so I couldn't bare an empty table in the hallway. I opted for this super pretty White Geranium and Jasmine fragrance diffuser from Next for £12 and these beautiful Peonies in a kitsch jar with a golden ribbon for £8.

The Bedroom:

The OH decided that the bedroom was a little lacklustre and whilst were waiting to frame up some prints for the lounge/diner and bedroom, we wanted to add a little more colour to the house. I absolutely adore this abstract canvas from Next for £35 as the colours match perfectly with the muted blues and greys we have going on in the bedroom.

The Lounge:

Finally, we got our hands on the lamp we have both been lusting after for ages. I love the shape of the legs and the muted tone of the Lampshade as it matches in perfectly with our super funky table legs.
We've been trying to get our hands on this lamp from Homebase for £59.99 since we moved in with little luck, but on Sunday it finally came home with us and I couldn't be happier.

I'm so pleased with all of our purchases and it just goes to show how a few little decorative items can make a building feel like a home. I feel like now we're getting more settled we're really starting to put our stamp on the place and I couldn't be happier.

I hope you've enjoyed a little insight into my apartment and how its shaping up.

Until Next Time
